Ryan Kalmoe

Biography

Ryan Kalmoe started his masters studies at the University of Minnesota in September of 2014. His research focused on the application of free induction decay navigators to magnetic resonance spectroscopy in the prostate. He also worked on the development of a quantitative anthropomorphic prostate phantom as part of Dr. Greg Metzger's group at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research. Following graduation, he completed a residency at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Chaitanya Kalavagunta

Biography

Chaitanya was a PhD in Medical physics graduating in 2014 with his thesis titled "Development of Multiparametric MRI Models for Prostate Cancer Detection based on Improved Correlative Pathology".  In his final year of graduate studies he was award a doctoral dissertaion fellowship from the medical school. Dr. Kalavagunta is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  In 2016, Dr. Kalavagunta completed his two-year residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Xiaoxuan (Nick) He

Biography

Nick received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2022.  His thesis work was titled "Application of Parallel Transmission to Ultra-High Field Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and Imaging".  Nick developed conducted cutting-edge research on UHF MRI, signal processing, and image reconstruction. He published multiple papers in Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, demonstrating novel techniques and approaches for improving ultra-high field MR spectroscopy and imaging, mitigating non-uniformities and signal dropout, and imaging human torso organs at 10.5T.

Ethan Leng

Biography

Ethan Leng was an MD/PhD student focusing on the development of machine learning (ML)-based models to assess presence and grade of prostate cancer on a voxel-wise basis using quantitative multi-parametric MRI. The goal was to achieve user-independent performance reaching at least the quality of a trained radiologist in terms of detecting, grading, and assessing the extent of prostate cancer.  He was awarded a doctoral dissertation fellowship in 2018, CTSI TL1 scholarship in 2019 and graduated in 2020.

Arcan Erturk

Biography

Arcan received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University and joined the CMRR as a Postdoctoral Researcher.  He designed, development and evaluated radiofrequency (RF) coils, parallel transmit arrays and RF hardware to improve MRI of the body at ultra-high field (7.0 and 10.5 Tesla).  Most notably, he developed a novel 16-channel body imaging antenna array at 7.0 Tesla. The 7.0 T body array improved the imaging performance by more than 25% and reduced subject preparation time inside the high-field MRI scanner by more than 10 minutes.
